Why to Give

Every donor has their own reasons for giving to the EV.  In addition to the satisfaction of supporting much needed science education programs and promoting environmental stewardship among our youth, you may be enthralled by the EcoCenter project or want to honor a special occasion or remember a dear friend.  Whatever the reason you give to the EV, you can be sure we are as committed to responsible stewardship of your donation dollars, as we are committed to teaching responsible stewardship of the earth.

Program and Operating Support

Unrestricted gifts provide maximum flexibility for the EV to apply funds where and when they are needed most to accomplish our mission.  However if we are able to accommodate donors’ special request, we will gladly receive designated gifts that match your donation dollars with your specific interests.  Some designated programs include:

EcoCenter Project

The EV is redeveloping an historic building in the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve, using green-building design and eco-friendly materials.  Once restored, the unique boat-shaped building, originally designed by Birge Clark, will be the EV’s new home and community EcoCenter for the advancement of environmental education in the Bay Area.

You can honor others with any donation to the Environmental Volunteers.

Honorary Gifts

Consider making donations to the Environmental Volunteers to honor and acknowledge special days: birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or whatever you are celebrating. You may even consider honoring Earth Day or National Education Week or any occasion.  You will receive a receipt for your donation and acknowledgment in EV publications (unless you wish to remain anonymous). Your friends will receive a personal card from the EV telling them that you have made a thoughtful gift in their name. The amounts of your contributions will be kept confidential, or noted, as you wish.

Memorial Gifts

If you would like to remember someone who loved nature or educating children, you can make a gift in that person’s memory. What a loving tribute it is!  You will receive a receipt for your donation. We will also write to family members or friends, as you request, telling them that you have made a thoughtful gift to the EV in memory of their loved one. The amount of your contribution will be kept confidential, or noted, as you wish.
