The 2009 Silicon Valley Duck Race in June was a big success and the EV met a lot of great folks and potential friends of the EV.
Thanks to our volunteers who staffed the booth. They reported that "flocks of visitors were interested in our duck mounts," and many signed up for our newsletter. As you can see in the photo, our booth had a special visitor who was a real quackup! |

The Palo Alto baylands, future home of our EV offices and destination for many of our student field trips, struggles to keep out invasive plants. In the past couple of years a new one, Dittrichia graveolens (aka stinkweed), arrived in the baylands.
You are invited Sunday, July 19th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm to help protect the baylands from the invasive stinkweed. |
Please bring: work gloves (leather is best), sun protection, a water bottle, and a sack lunch. This event is open to everyone in the EV community including current volunteers, prospective volunteers, your families, friends, and neighbors too! |

The Jug Handle Creek Farm and Nature Center is a great place to stay and enjoy the North Coast at reasonable prices. Plus, you are supporting a non-profit, educational organization that aligns with many of the EV's goals. The Nature Center offers naturalist-led tours of the Jug Handle Ecological Staircase as well as lessons on native plant propagation, fisheries, watersheds and other natural history subjects. For more information on this fun, relaxing, and beautiful facility, click here. |
